Spencer Dawson graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2020 with a B.S.E. in Vocal Music Education. Spencer serves as choir director for Pleasant View Middle School where he also coaches cross country and track.

Brad Groves has been a member of the Springfield Chamber Chorus since its second season, and has had the privilege of being section leader and music librarian for the ensemble. He attended Missouri State University as an instrumental music major and pursued massage therapy thereafter. In his spare time, Brads enjoys kayaking and hiking.

Zephan McGlasson is a native of Springfield, MO and graduated from Missouri State University this May of 2021 with a BS in Music. Through his time at MSU, Zephan was apart of the Chorale, Mens Chorus and Opera. This will be Zephan’s first year as a member of SCC, and he also sings locally at his church. Zephan works for White River Lawn care fertilizing yards, and when not busy working enjoys hiking, camping and fishing with his wife Emma!!

An Army veteran, Jonathan Parker has been passionate about singing since the age of ten. Jonathan is currently teaching music in the Springfield Public School system. In his spare time, he also enjoys baseball and spending time with his family and his puppies.

Jonathan Schott graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2013, and again with a Master of Choral Conducting in 2016. While in school he served as Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, MI. Upon graduating he taught music at the University of Pikeville in Kentucky. He has since moved to Missouri for further musical endeavors. Jonathan can often be found enjoying his love of video games on Twitch or with those he holds close. He currently lives in Springfield with his cat, Garnet.

Alex Smith is a recent graduate of Missouri State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music degree, with an emphasis in voice, and a Graduate Certificate in Choral Studies. Throughout a young choral career, Alex has performed concerts at conferences and festivals all over the world, including trips to New York, Scandinavia, and China. Alex’s professional engagements include singing as a Young Artist with CORO and the Des Moines Choral Festival in their 2019 season, as well as recording projects with Walton Music. Alex is featured on the Missouri State University Chorale albums entitled “On My Way” and “Mysterium”. Through his time at Missouri State, Alex took private voice from Dr. Richard Todd Payne and sang in the choirs under the direction of Dr. Cameron LaBarr, Dr. Erin Plisco, and Master Robert T Gibson.

Ethan Sykes has been a member of the Milwaukee Master Singers and a member of the Missouri State Concert Chorale. He has performed in multiple venues across the world, including New York, Paris, Austria, Washington D.C., and Germany. He is currently the web designer for Springfield Chamber Chorus. He loves musicals, and takes every chance he can to belt out a good tune in or out of the car.

Dustin Surber is in his first year with SCC. He is originally from Niangua, Missouri. Dustin graduated from Southwest Baptist University in 2016 with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. While there, he performed with the SBU Chorale and Concert Choir. He teaches music at Willard Intermediate South.

Austin Grega earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri in 2017. After graduating, Austin taught elementary music, middle school choir, and high school choir in two districts before landing in his current job as Glendale High School’s Orchestra Director. In addition to conducting Glendale’s orchestras, Austin teaches 5th grade strings at several elementary schools in Springfield.  

Outside the classroom he enjoys being physically active, getting outside, and cooking.  Austin is an Eagle Scout, an active volunteer in the local Boy Scouts of America council, and coaches CrossFit at Springfield’s oldest CrossFit affiliate, Proximal Strength.

Shawn Vomund graduated from Missouri State University in 2017 and is currently teaching band and choir in the Fordland school district. Shawn serves the ensemble as the tenor section leader. Outside of work, Shawn serves on the music staff at University Heights Baptist Church, performs with the Missouri State University Community Band, and plays clarinet in The Brandon Street Stompers Dixieland Band.
